Rookie Mock Draft with Landing Spots

We are diving back into another rookie mock draft except for this time we will be drafted under the assumption that the players are on the teams from the mock draft on Monday. So we are adding another layer of context to the equation and some deeper analysis of what we would do, and how some of the values of these rookies shift with the landing spots.

Overview of 2022 Rookie Tight End Class

The final part of our mini-series will dive into the 2022 TE class. Truth be told, there are only a few decent TE prospects in this class that I am willing to invest rookie draft capital in. The NFL Draft will tell us how NFL teams feel about these guys, but right now, it's looking bleak.

Colorado State's Trey McBride currently leads the way as TE1. The second-to-last piece to his prospect profile came a few days ago at CSU's Pro Day, where McBride ran an adjusted (+.05) 4.59 40-Yard Dash. The raw speed and Speed Score are both in around the 90th percentile.

The pre-NFL Combine TE1 has disappointed at every stop along the way. Texas A&M's Jalen Wydermyer ran an adjusted 5.07 (2nd percentile) 40-Yard Dash, giving him a 76.8 Speed Score (3rd percentile). He will be tumbling down draft boards if he has not already.

A few other potential dart throw prospects:

  • Charlie Kolar: 2nd-year breakout, 87th percentile Speed Score, NCAA production metrics check multiple boxes.

  • Greg Dulcich: Solid athletic and NCAA production profiles.

  • Isaiah Likely: Tough combine, but NCAA production has been there since year 1.

Check the previous weeks' newsletters if you missed the QBs, RBs, or WRs. To view the full list of prospects, be sure to subscribe on Patreon!

For all of the great information provided by Jordan Backes, make sure you check out his analytical database as part of the 4-Star membership to Prospect Talk. A Fast Rising RB Name for you to Love!

There is nothing three-star about running back Jeremiyah Love out of Christian Brothers College in Saint Louis, Missouri. The 6’1, 195lb, RB is both elusive and ultra-speedy, with a frame that can have him bulk up and maintain his speed.

The three traits I noticed most were:

  • His ability to anticipate where the defense wants to cut him off

  • His ability to predict where lanes will open

  • his patience before exploding into 3 straight ankle-breaking moves before hitting the gas.

This kid should be on Dancing with the Stars the way he's moving out there. As the big-time offers start to roll in, I expect him to rise up the rankings just as quickly. Don’t be left behind because once you see Jeremiyah run, it will be love at first sight.

Episode 53 and we are back to the ELITE REGION SERIES. Take a look at Heart of the Midwest for the best QBs, RBs, WRs, and TEs in the high school class of 2023. @TheBenEby takes you through Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

Adam (@ATM4Dchess) and Michael (@iowamichael) break down the rookie drafts which take place before the NFL Draft, why you should do your drafts this way, and how to best exploit these drafts in your dynasty leagues.

Off the Line took the week off, but will be back next week so be sure to tap in with Gene and Ike on Thursday when their next episode of Off the Line Fantasy Football.
